The Tomb of the Unknowns is a highly respected monument dedicated to service members whose remains could not be identified, including those who fought in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. This monument carries tremendous emotional weight and is considered one of the most respectful ways to honor soldiers.
The Tomb is guarded 24/7, regardless of weather conditions, to ensure that it is always given the highest level of respect. Visitors are expected to act respectfully at all times when visiting the monument, but unfortunately, not everyone follows this expectation.
In one incident, a woman walked past the barricades to take a photo and was reprimanded by the soldiers guarding the Tomb.
In another video clip captured by a tourist, we can see a soldier guarding the Tomb while loud laughter and sounds of tomfoolery can be heard in the background during the mandated time of silence and respect.
The soldier guarding the Tomb was clearly upset by this act of disrespect and halted his routine to tell the rowdy audience members to maintain a level of silence and respect. Pure silence then spread throughout the monument, and the guard waited for a few silent seconds before resuming his sacred routine.
This incredible soldier’s dedication to maintaining order and respect for those who sacrificed themselves for our freedom is truly admirable.
