During the 1950s, the King of Rock N’ Roll, Elvis Presley, tried his hand at acting and appeared in two feature films before being drafted into the military in 1958. After serving his country, he resumed his acting career, eventually appearing in a total of 31 films.

Presley’s first starring role was in the movie Loving You, in which he played a delivery man whose singing talent is discovered by a music publicist. He joins a tour and quickly rises to fame due to his unique voice and good looks. Along the way, his character, Deke, falls in love with a female singer on the tour, and after some turmoil, they end up together.

Because Presley’s character is a singer in the film, he sings 7 original songs, including “(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear,” which went on to become a certified platinum hit.

The song was a fan favorite and every time Presley performed it, especially with his signature hip shakes and dance moves, the audience went wild. It topped the Billboard charts in country, R&B, and Top 40 genres.
